A week ago, on February 23, 2023, Zappa passed away with assistance. He lived for 15 years and 53 days. We didn't know if he would make to his 15th birthday, let alone beyond.
He survived tumors inside and outside his body. Muscle loss and arthritis in his back and rear legs. And he had laryngeal paralysis. Every day was a miracle with him.
I swear by cold laser treatment, as it kept Zappa walking and functional. I would do it again in a heartbeat. By far the best money we spent on Zappa.
He fell four days before his death, which we believe lead to the tumor bleeding in his liver.
Zappa was the last dog of the 24 Paws of Love and so not only did we lose Zappa, but the 24 Paws as well.
End of an Era.
Thank you dear readers for being with us through our journey of love. Thank you for sticking with us. And while our journey with Paws is not over, we will be taking a reprieve to mourn the loss of the greatest dogs we have ever owned.
Love,
Mark and Patty

Patty and Mark, I'm so sorry for your tremendous loss...
I've followed you journey for years but never commented. You are the most dedicated canine parents I've ever known.

So sorry for your loss (all of them).
I know the joy and pain of our losing furry family members all too well. But in the end I hope you find peace and enjoy the good memories as we must accept the bad.

Re: Ann, Thank you for your condolences and for being a long time reader. And thank you for the compliment. Take care. ♥
Re: Deb, Thank you for you condolences. I sorry for your losses as well. It is so hard losing the furry ones, isn't it? Eventually time will heal. Thank you for following.
So very sad to hear this. But you gave Zappa and all the others so much love. Soft woos and gentle hugs to you from all of us.

I am so very sorry for your recent loss of Zappa as well as for your previous losses of Brut, Silver, Blaze, Chance, and Fiona. I have read all of your posts over the years, but never before commented. You and Mark clearly loved your "24 Paws" and gave them the best life possible. I wish there was something I could say to take away your sorrow.
I’m just catching up. I’m so glad you were given the special extra time with Zappa to know him one on one. My heart goes out to you with such a difficult loss. Here’ s to brighter days.
My deepest condolences. I have read your blog for only a short time, but I can feel your love and pain in your words. And I might look into that laser treatment for my 13 year old mini-poodle, she has been going 3 legged walking more often lately.
